COVID-19 has affected people all over the globe, with millions practicing social distancing and staying at home it has taken a toll on the way people shop. For a business it’s important to recognize how to properly address the issue within your own individual strategies, and recognize that your marketing can not continue business as usual. People are in a panicked state, and their attention are not on business developments or product offerings. Even if you try, it will be met with deaf ears and disdain, so it’s important to make the correct decisions moving forward. Below we made a list of a few of these key ways to adapt your strategy.

1. Stay Relevant to your Audience

As you can see people are feeling anxious and uncertain about the future, so it’s no time to focus on your business’s needs. Instead look for ways to put your audience first, and address their needs and concerns. A good example of this would be if you're a financial institution, you can produce content that addresses ways your audience can save money during this time or how their small business can adapt to decreased customer numbers and purchases.

As in person consultations and meetings are off the table for a while now is the perfect time to look for ways to do things online that support your marketing strategies. Create webinars that people can log onto from the comfort of their home. Do a live video on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram that will engage your audience. Take time to produce regular videos that will benefit your strategy even after the panic dissipates.

5. Look for Ways to Help

As many businesses and people are in crisis mode now is the perfect time to look for ways to give back, including your employees and customers who have been affected by the virus. Whether it’s with resources or technology, ask yourself what can you do to help during this stressful time. This might not be a traditional marketing tactic, but it’s the right thing to do and will be appreciated by your audience.
